GRMC to conduct Disaster Drill
(Seguin) — Don’t be alarmed today, Wednesday Oct. 21, if you see an increase in emergency activity over at Guadalupe Regional Medical Center. GRMC will be taking part in a mock disaster drill. Hospital officials say the purpose of the exercise is to assess GRMC’s emergency response procedures, staff coordination and recovery efforts in the event of a real emergency.
The training exercise will involve frontline hospital staff, the Seguin Fire Department and EMS. The drill will focus on response plans for a mass casualty event, which could result in a sudden influx of patients, media and concerned community members.
Community members should be aware that emergency responders may be present at GRMC and acting as though a real emergency is taking place. But again, these scenarios are only a drill. Meanwhile, officials say normal emergency department operations and patient care will not be affected.
