(Guadalupe County) — A man was taken into custody Monday after leading authorities on a high-speed chase along Interstate 10 East.
Lt. Zachary McBride, the public information officer for the Guadalupe County Sheriff’s Office, says the incident began in New Braunfels at approximately 10:40 a.m. He says deputies were dispatched to the 400 block of Sand Cherry Street in the Mistflower Subdivision just off State Highway 46. They say a woman reported that the father of her children had shot at her vehicle and then fled southbound on Highway 46 toward Seguin in a blue/green Toyota passenger car.
McBride says when deputies located the suspect’s vehicle and attempted a traffic stop, the driver refused to stop, prompting the pursuit onto Interstate 10 East.
The deployment of spike strips was only partially successful — causing the vehicle to lose a tire shortly afterward.
The pursuit, which continued east past the Guadalupe County line, ended when the vehicle crashed near mile marker 639.
The driver was arrested and identified as Lord Kendrick Woods, 35, of McDonough, Georgia. He is currently detained for investigation of fleeing in a motor vehicle and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. No injuries were reported.
Investigation into the case continues.
