Clifton "Cliff" D Micheli

Clifton “Cliff” D Micheli, of Seguin, Texas, passed away on Sunday, October 4, 2026, in Seguin.  He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and a friend and mentor to many others.

A memorial visitation will be held on Thursday, October 8, 2026, from 9 a.m. until 10 a.m. at Emanuel’s Lutheran Church, 206 N. Travis St, Seguin, Texas 78155 followed by a memorial service at 10 a.m.  Interment will follow at Guadalupe Valley Memorial Park.  A reception will follow in the Fellowship Hall.

For those who desire the funeral service may be livestreamed at  Emanuel’s Lutheran Church – YouTube.

Clifton was born on December 7, 1931, in Seguin, Texas, the son of Herbert and Bessie (Miman) Micheli.  He attended local schools and graduated from Saegert High School in 1950. In his early teens he worked part-time for Max Rank Sheet Metal and during World War II he worked part-time at Wuest’s grocery store sacking sugar, flour and other rations in one pound packaging.  He also worked part-time at the family business, Micheli Plumbing.

After attending college at Texas Lutheran College, Clifton joined the Air Force.  He graduated in the top ten percent of his class and was a Flying Electrician Gunner.  He was assigned to a RB-36.  He spent his military service at various bases throughout the United States as well as in Europe.

Following the military, he continued his education and came back to Micheli Plumbing where he developed the HVAC department at his father’s company and the name was changed to Micheli Plumbing and Heating. He dedicated his career to the Seguin area designing and developing all aspects of commercial and residential heating and air conditioning.  He retired in 1996 at which time he became active in the Refrigeration Service Engineers Society (RSES).  He developed and taught a curriculum which was instrumental in assisting HVAC technicians prepare for and pass the state mandated licensing program.  During his involvement with RSES, he was presented with multiple awards locally and nationally.

He met the love of his life, Hughlene, on a blind date while at home on leave.  He later began to call her Peg in reference to the song “Peg O’ My Heart”.  They went on to marry and have two daughters, three grandsons and three great grandchildren.  During their marriage, they travelled throughout the United States on family vacations and later, RSES trips.  After they had both retired, they were able to travel more extensively, and the world was their destination.

During his retirement years, he became actively involved in the church, including becoming a board member, a team lead on the property steward team and consultant on new construction at Emanuel’s.  As Clifton’s body began to fail him, he was no longer able to actively participate at his beloved church, yet he was still sought out as the resident expert on many church related issues.  His knowledge of the history and infrastructure of Emanuel’s was legendary.  Many of his students have commented that if they had just a small portion of his intelligence, they would be blessed. He was always happy to share his insights and acumen with anyone who asked.  He will be greatly missed by those he touched.

Clifton is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Hughlene.  Daughters Mitzi Matula and Jo Ann (Joey) Wallace, grandsons Christopher Matula (Katie), Dustin Matula (Zhayna) and Austin Wallace, Great grandchildren, Josephine Matula, Michael Matula and Frederick Matula.  He is also survived by a sister, LuNelle Heiman and brother, Leroy Micheli (Alma Jo), and many other relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Bessie Micheli, brother-in-law, Dan Heiman and son-in-law, Sam (Bo) Wallace, Jr.
