(Seguin) — If you’ve been looking to clear out unwanted items around your home, then this weekend is your chance. The City of Seguin’s will host its fall cleanup day this Saturday, from 8 a.m. to noon at the Seguin Coliseum parking lot. The cleanup is open to residents who live within the Seguin city limits.
City of Seguin Public Information Officer Jennifer Sourdellia says the event is designed to make disposing of unwanted items convenient for local residents.
“It is so super easy to get rid of your stuff. We have 2 cleanup days during the year. We have a spring. We have a fall. Our fall cleanup day is coming up this Saturday September the 26th. It’s from 8 a.m. to noon at the Seguin Coliseum. It is open to all residents who live in the Seguin city limits,” said Sourdellia.
Residents should line up on Fred Bird Drive and be prepared to show proof of residency in the form of a valid identification card or utility bill.
A wide variety of items will be accepted, including large bulk items such as furniture and mattresses. The cleanup will also accept refrigerators, freezers and air conditioners, provided they are free of Freon.
Other accepted items include scrap metal, lawn furniture, old bicycles, lawnmowers and boats. Sourdellia said those items must be drained of oil and gas.
The city will also accept up to 10 automobile tires, wood without contaminants and up to two bags of paper documents for shredding.
Sourdellia says residents do not need to wait until they have a large number of items to participate.
“We’ll pretty much take care of everything for you like I said it’s quick. It’s easy. Our staff will be there on site to unload your trailers. We’re there to help you and yeah, we’re just ready to help keep Seguin clean and we hope to see everybody out there,” said Sourdellia.
