(Seguin) – The annual St. James Catholic Church Fall Family Festival returns this Sunday.
The festival will be held on church grounds from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Charles Villeneuve, a member of the festival committee, says the event which includes a full day of activities and entertainment, is open to anyone in the community.
“It is open to the public. There will be delicious food. There’ll be a live auction. There’ll be a silent auction. They’ll be a country store. There’ll be plenty of games for the kids and musical entertainment and just a lot of good camaraderie,” said Villeneuve.
The highlight of the festival will again be the annual meal. Villeneuve says the meal is prepared with help from members of the church.
Plates include a chicken quarter, pork steak, homemade potato salad, green beans plus dessert. Cost is $15 each.
Plates will be available for purchase at the door, with the meal served in the parish hall. Drive-through meals also will be available at the Columbus Club Hall (formerly KC Hall) from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The festival includes both a silent and live auction beginning at 1 p.m. in the church gymnasium. Villeneuve says more than 100 items are currently expected to be part of the auction.
Entertainment throughout the day will include Jeff Willis, DJ Alex Avila, Seguin High School Mariachi performers and Clint Taft & the Buck Wild Band, which will perform from 3 to 6 p.m.
Children’s’ activities include pony rides, train rides, a petting zoo, games, a water slide and a bouncy house.
Villeneuve says organizers are hoping for good weather and a strong community turnout.
“We just look for hopefully a little bit cooler weather and a good turnout from the public,” said Villeneuve.
The festival will also include food booths, a country corner, gift card raffle plus other activities throughout the day.
The church is located at 510 South Camp Street in Seguin.
