SEGUIN, TX— The 143rd Guadalupe County Fair & PRCA Rodeo kicks off in October, and applications are still being accepted for the Guadalupe County Fair Parade. The parade rolls through downtown Seguin on Friday, Oct. 9, at 10 a.m., bringing marching bands, floats, horseback riders, local businesses, schools and community groups down Austin Street.
Businesses, organizations, schools, clubs and community groups are encouraged to join the fun and enter the parade. Applications are due Sept. 30 and can be submitted online at gcfair.org. Questions about the parade can be emailed to gcfairoffice@gmail.com.
The Guadalupe County Fair has been a Seguin tradition for generations, bringing the community together each fall. Festivities begin with Kickoff Weekend Oct. 2 through 4, followed by the main fair Oct. 8 through 11. Events include the State Championship BBQ Cook-off, Mutton Bustin’ Bonanza, livestock shows, agricultural and horticultural exhibits, carnival rides, PRCA Rodeo performances and more.
There is also still time to enter Main Street’s Scarecrow & Skeleton Display Contest. Created in partnership with the Guadalupe County Fair Association in 2000, the contest helps bring a little extra fall spirit downtown during fair season. Scarecrow & Skeleton Contest entry forms are due Sept. 25.
