(Schertz) — The Schertz Police Department is asking for the public’s help as it investigates a suspicious incident involving a child at a neighborhood park in the Belmont Subdivision.
Police say a community member contacted the department at approximately 8:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 12, to report an incident that reportedly occurred earlier that afternoon between approximately 4:30 and 5:30 p.m.
According to police, a child was at the neighborhood park when an unknown man reportedly grabbed the child by the arm. The child was able to get away, and police say the man did not make any statements during the incident.
The individual is described as a man between 30 and 40 years old with dark hair and a medium skin tone. He was reportedly wearing a blue top and jeans.
The Schertz Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division has been notified and is investigating the incident.
Police are asking anyone who was in the Belmont Subdivision during that timeframe and saw anything suspicious or has information related to the case to contact the Schertz Police Department at 210-619-1200 to speak with an officer.
In the meantime, police are encouraging parents and guardians to remind children to be aware of their surroundings, stay with trusted adults or friends when possible and immediately report anything that makes them feel unsafe.
Police are also asking the public to avoid speculation or sharing unverified information while the investigation remains ongoing.
