Jeffrey Scott Foerster, of San Antonio, Texas, was born on November 11, 1973, in Seguin, Texas. He was baptized into the Christian faith at Cross Church on October 8, 1983, and confirmed there on May 2,1988. Jeff passed away unexpectedly on September 3, 2026, in Seguin, Texas, leaving behind a family and community who loved him deeply.
Jeff is survived by his father, August Foerster, and his stepmother, Judy; his sister, Shelly Cavazos; his brother-in-law, Chris Cavazos; nephews, Ashton Cowan, Kaleb Cavazos, and Dylan Cavazos; niece, Kerstyn Foerster and partner Chance Hartsfield; great-nephews, Waylon and Tatum Hartsfield; the love of his life, Laura Jacobus; his beloved cat, Schotzie; uncles, Andrew Foerster, Larry Bornemann and wife Kathy, and Danny Bornemann and wife Joan; aunt, Peggy Zwicke;
He was preceded in death by his mother, Barbara Bornemann Foerster, and his grandparents Andrew & Annie Foerster and Elmond & Viola Bornemann.
Jeff’s lifelong love of the outdoors began as a small boy fishing with his dad and Uncle Larry. Whether on the Texas coast or local creeks, the water became his second home and shaped much of who he was. After graduating from Seguin High School in 1992, he worked alongside his father as a fabricator before pursuing studies at Texas Tech University, contributing to urban lake fisheries research. His passion for conservation led him to co-found the Saltwater Conservation Association of Texas. He later earned his Bachelor of Science in Biology from Texas State University in 2010.
Jeff spent more than two decades in the hospitality industry, most notably as Dining Room Supervisor at Embassy Suites Outdoor World in Grapevine. He later joined USA as a personal property insurance adjuster.
Adventure called him west to Arizona, where he explored an old gold mine and collected turquoise and gold flakes. When USAA offered a transfer back to Texas, Jeff returned to Rockport and reunited with his lifelong best friend, Jayson Carleton. They spent countless hours fishing, restoring his father’s old Kenner boat.
Jeff had a gentle heart for animals-especially cats-and a quiet kindness that touched everyone.
Visitation will begin on Saturday, September 19, 2026, at 9 a.m. at St. John Lutheran Church in Marion followed by funeral service at 10 a.m. with the Reverend Bryan Dziadik-Willingham officiating. Interment will follow in the St. John Lutheran Cemetery in Marion. A reception will follow at the St. John P.J. Hall.
