(Guadalupe County) — A 22-year-old Luling man was taken into custody without incident Thursday after a Guadalupe County Sheriff’s Office SWAT response to a residence in the 2500 block of Timmermann Road.
Victor Rodriguez was arrested on a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. No one was injured during the arrest.
Deputies were initially called after a woman reported that Rodriguez, who had been in a relationship with her 18-year-old daughter, was at the residence and had threatened to kill the young woman. The daughter, who is pregnant, had already left the home when deputies arrived. Her mother met her away from the residence, where deputies made contact with her.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, the woman told deputies that during an altercation Rodriguez threatened her with a firearm and pointed it at her.
Because deputies did not know Rodriguez’s status or whether anyone else remained inside the residence, the Sheriff’s Office activated its SWAT team. Members of the Crisis Negotiation Unit spent an extended period attempting toreach Rodriguez by phone.
Officials say The effort eventually led to a peaceful resolution.
Rodriguez responded to negotiators, cooperated with law enforcement and voluntarily stepped out of the residence. SWAT personnel observed that he was unarmed, and he was taken into custody without incident.
