(Seguin) — The Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church Bazaar returns to Seguin this Labor Day weekend. The two-day celebration, which has long been a Labor Day weekend tradition for all of Seguin, returns with live music, food, bingo, a silent auction, family activities, and a chance to win a brand-new vehicle.
The annual bazaar will be held Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 5-6, at the Seguin Events Complex.
This year’s Chairperson, Felisa Ramirez, says the response to the event brought back last year was strong, particularly given that it had been away for several years due to COVID.
“We did really good financially last year for being gone for six years,” said Ramirez.
Ramirez says the best part of serving as chair is that she gets to work with all the various organizations — all of whom are working to raise money for the church.
Ramirez says the schedule for Saturday includes a 4 p.m. Mass inside the Seguin Coliseum, followed by the traditional blessing of the booths at 5 p.m.
Once the booths have been blessed, Ramirez says the food, activities,children’s area, and entertainment get Saturday evening underway.
“The Iron Horse Country Band, made up of veterans from American Legion Post 245, will open the Saturday entertainment. They will be followed by La 45 at 8:30 p.m., with Jay Perez and the Band scheduled to headline at 10:30 p.m. Bingo will be held inside the Coliseum from 7 to 10:30 p.m. Outside, visitors can find traditional bazaar food, children’s games and bounce houses, along with vendors selling merchandise in the area where the carnival traditionally was located,” said Ramirez.
Ramirez says the excitement continues with another full schedule on Sunday. She says kicking things off for the headliner and performing before the raffle will be a pair of area bands.
“Sunday brings another full evening of entertainment, with the Frank Rangel Band opening at 6:30 p.m., followed by the Garcia Brothers at 8:30 p.m.,” said Ramirez.
The featured event for the annual OLG Bazaar will again be the announcement of its annual 16-prize raffle. The drawing will be held at 10 p.m. Sunday.
This year’s grand prize is a 2026 Chevrolet Equinox.
There are also 16 additional prizes, including gift cards.
Tickets are $10, and people do not have to be present to win.
Tickets are available through the church office on Friday or from parishioners. Tickets will also be sold each night of the bazaar.
Following the raffle drawings, LocaPasion, a tribute band known for its performances honoring La Mafia, will headline Sunday night and close out the two-day celebration.
Both nights of entertainment are scheduled to continue until midnight, with bingo running from 7 to 10:30 p.m.
Food, children’s activities, and other purchases require tickets, and cash will be the only form of payment accepted at the booths.
