SAN ANTONIO, Texas — The #RV Texas Lutheran men’s soccer team suffered a loss in its season-opening match on Tuesday, falling to rival, No. 2 Trinity, 4-1, at Paul McGinlay Field.
Sophomore Luis Briseno (San Antonio/Madison) scored his first collegiate goal while junior Evan Pacheco (San Antonio/Central Catholic) and freshman Trapper Davis (Aledo/Aledo) picked up their first assists of the season.
Trinity scored all four goals in the first half in the 19th, 34th, 36th, and 37th minute to take a big lead into the half that they would hold over the final 45 minutes.
Trinity outshot the Bulldogs 29-5 and had 12 shots on goal compared to just two for TLU. The Tigers also held an 11-1 advantage in corner kicks.
Briseno scored his goal in the 25th minute to equalize, but that was all the Bulldogs could muster on the night.
Texas Lutheran will return to Seguin for their 2026 home opener on Friday against No. 14 Lynchburg. Kickoff from Gustafson Field is set for 7:30 PM. The match will be streamed on FloCollege. All streaming and live stats links will be available on tlubulldogs.com.
