New motorcycle ministry makes first community donation

New motorcycle ministry makes first community donation

(Seguin) — A newly established local motorcycle ministry is already putting its mission into motion.

The Priesthood Motorcycle Ministry’s Walnut Springs Chapter recently donated $3,000 to the Seguin Housing Authority in support of its annual school supply drive.

The Walnut Springs Chapter which officially launched in October 2025 is part of a national motorcycle ministry based in Tahlequah, Oklahoma.

Robert Acuna, treasurer of the Walnut Springs Chapter, says the donation is just the beginning of the group’s commitment to serving the community.

“It’s our first one of many. We are looking to just reach out to the community, through motorcycles and  helping out wherever we can,” said Acuna.

Acuna says the local chapter is made up of members from several churches, along with motorcycle enthusiasts who share the group’s mission. More importantly, he says you don’t have to own a motorcycle to become involved.

The chapter includes pastors and church members from across the area, including Acuna, who serves as pastor of Straight Street Church, and chapter president Pastor Steve Garza of The Rock Church.

Acuna says members intentionally looked for a need they could meet in the community and decided helping children prepare for school was the right place to begin.

“We are intentional about reaching out to the community. We are intentional about  reaching out to our kids. Our kids are our future. And so, we want to put them in every  positive position that we can to be successful in the community, to become productive citizens and we feel like they really shouldn’t have to stress or worry about school supplies — that should be something that the community gets involved and helps in as well,” said Acuna.

Funds for the donation were raised through community fundraisers, including a recent barbecue plate sale held at the American Legion Post 245.

Those interested in learning more about the ministry or becoming involved are encouraged to check out the group on Facebook by searching PH Walnut Springs.
