Beyond 22 hosting pair of Inclusive community events in Seguin this Week

(Seguin) — Families of individuals with disabilities will have two opportunities this week to connect, create and build community as Beyond 22, Inc. hosts a pair of free inclusive events in Seguin.

The organization is partnering with local groups to offer both a creative arts program and a support group gathering designed to encourage friendships, provide resources and celebrate individuals of all abilities.

The first event, Hearts in Motion, will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. Friday, July 10, at Artable Curiosities, 225 N. Saunders St. The free art enrichment program is open to individuals with different abilities, with sessions divided by age. Participants ages 17 and younger will meet from 1 to 2:30 p.m., while adults 18 and older will participate from 2:30 to 4 p.m.

Organizers say the program offers a welcoming environment where participants can explore their creativity with the help of experienced art instructors, Beyond 22 coordinators and volunteers. The goal is to provide supportive, hands-on activities that foster confidence, self-expression and social connections.

The weekend continues with a Down Syndrome Support Group Ice Cream Social from 2 to 3 p.m. Sunday, July 12, at The Wesley House at La Trinidad United Methodist Church, 313 E. Mountain St.

The gathering is designed for parents and families to share experiences, build relationships and learn about resources available in the community while enjoying an afternoon together over ice cream. Organizers say the event offers a nurturing atmosphere focused on emotional support, practical strategies and connecting families who are navigating similar experiences. All family members are welcome.

Beyond 22 says both events reflect its mission of empowering individuals with special needs and creating opportunities for inclusion, education and community support.
