(Seguin) — One of Hollywood’s biggest blockbusters is coming to life on stage in Seguin — at least the story behind it.
En Vivo! Theatrical opens “The Shark Is Broken” on Thursday, July 9, at the historic Palace Theatre in downtown Seguin.
The internationally acclaimed comedy takes audiences behind the scenes of the troubled production of the 1975 classic Jaws. The play follows actors Robert Shaw, Roy Scheider and Richard Dreyfuss as they spend days together aboard the Orca while mechanical problems with the famous shark bring filming to a standstill.
Director Paul Padilla says the production offers much more than laughs.
Padilla says the play explores the relationships, ambitions and personalities of three actors who had no idea they were making one of the most iconic films in movie history.
The production stars Shawn Hardee as Robert Shaw, Tyler Askins as Roy Scheider and Jason Chew as Richard Dreyfuss.
Performances run July 9 through July 12 at the Palace Theatre in downtown Seguin. Because of adult language and its authentic portrayal of 1970s Hollywood, the show is recommended for mature audiences.
