Seguin Powerlifter Earns World Championship Runner-Up Finish


(Seguin) — A Seguin High School student-athlete is being recognized for her performance earlier this summer on the international stage.

Kelsie Torres recently earned second place in the 48-kilogram Women’s High School Division at the IDFPA High School World Championships held in Tampa, Florida.

Competing against some of the top high school powerlifters in the world, Torres posted a squat of 214 pounds, a bench press of 104 pounds, and a deadlift of 264 pounds. Her combined total of more than 584 pounds secured the runner-up finish in her division.

Torres represented her USAPL club team, 830 Powerlifting, as well as Seguin High School and the Seguin community during the competition.
