Billy Richard Smith

Billy Richard Smith, age 67 of Seguin, passed away on June 2, 2026.  Billy was born on August 10, 1958, in Charleston, West Virginia to Geraldine (Atkins) and Lawrence Richard Smith.

Billy will be remembered as a devout Christian who devoted his life to Christ.  While members of First Baptist Church, Billy faithfully served as a Deacon and Lead the security team detail.  Karen and Billy were currently active members of McQueeney Baptist Church.

He entered the Wireline Industry in 1974, slowly building a legacy which led to an “Icon of the Industry” award in 2026.

He enjoyed his ranch and tending to his cows. In addition, many good times were spent at Karen and Billy’s Lakehouse, swimming, skiing and jet skiing with the grandchildren.

Billy is preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Richard Smith, brother-in-law, Jim Case and his father-in-law, Foy Hall.

Survivors include his loving wife of 48 years, Karen Smith; daughter, Kristal Wessels and husband Doug; son, Ricky Smith and wife Holly; grandchildren who knew and loved him as “PawPaw”, Callen Wessels and significant other, Ariel Soliz, Dylan Wessels and wife Terryn, Samantha Lambert and husband Travis, Kaden Wessels, and Rylee Smith; great-granddaughter, Blakely Wessels and joining her in October will be little brother and Billy’s great-grandson, Holtyn Billy Wessels; sister, Linda Case; mother-in-law, Judy Hall; brothers-in-law, Steve Hall, and Windell Hall and wife Tanya; sister-in-law, Kerrie Hall; numerous nieces, nephews, other loving family members and a host of friends.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 7, 2026, at McQueeney Baptist Church from 3 to 5 p.m.  Funeral service celebrating Billy’s life will be held on Monday, June 8, 2026, at 10 a.m. at McQueeney Baptist Church with the Reverend Dale Jones officiating.  Interment will follow in San Geronimo Cemetery.  A reception will be announced.

Serving as pallbearers will be Charles Gueldner, Aaron Enriquez, Rudy Salas, Rudy Salas, Jr., Chad Meeley, and Russ Eckols.
