Guadalupe County Sheriff’s Office shares results
(Seguin) — If you thought you spotted a few more blue and red lights making stops along State Highway 46 earlier this month — you were not alone.
Guadalupe County Sheriff Joshua Ray says deputies and officers from other agencies across the area across the area joined forces in a two-day crackdown aimed at making one of Guadalupe County’s busiest roadways safer.
From May 1 to May 2, the Guadalupe County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Unit conducted a coordinated multi-agency traffic enforcement operation along the SH 46 corridor between New Braunfels and Seguin.
Ray says the initiative brought together deputies and officers from the Texas Department of Public Safety, the Guadalupe County Constable Precinct 4, and the New Braunfels Police Department.
During the two-day effort, law enforcement officers conducted 115 traffic stops, resulting in five arrests for driving while intoxicated, one narcotics-related arrest, 41 citations, and 75 warnings.
Authorities say the enforcement targeted speeding, unsafe lane changes, reckless driving, DWI offenses, narcotics violations, and other moving violations.
During one of the those days, deputies even witnessed a hit-and-run crash happen directly in front of them. Officers immediately initiated a pursuit and safely apprehended the suspect a short time later. The driver was arrested on multiple charges, including DWI.
Sheriff’s officials say the incident highlighted the coordination and rapid response capabilities of the agencies involved.
The sheriff’s office says the collaborative effort successfully removed impaired drivers from local roadways, addressed criminal activity, and improved safety along the heavily traveled SH 46 corridor.
Plus he says approved overtime funding helped ensure full participation in the operation.
Meanwhile, officials remind all drivers to slow down, stay alert, and never get behind the wheel while impaired.
