Ruby Ruth Johnson Lindeman

Seguin, TX, USA / Seguin Today

Ruby Ruth Johnson Lindeman

Ruby Ruth Johnson Lindeman, age 92 of Seguin, passed away on May 12, 2026.  Ruby was born on August 13, 1933, in Gonzales, Texas to Mayme (Gunn) and William Thomas Johnson.

After graduating from Gonzales High School, she continued her education at the University of Texas, graduating in 1955 with a degree in Education. She married Alfred Marvin, “Buddy”, Lindeman, the love of her life, on August 5, 1955. Together they had three children, Lisa, David, and Susan.

Once her children were in school, Ruby decided to take advantage of her degree and began teaching Reading at Ball Junior High School.  When AJ Briesemeister (the ‘new’ middle school) opened its doors, she continued teaching until she retired in 1983.

Never one to be idle, she and Buddy owned and operated The Bottle Haus for over 30 years. And if one successful business wasn’t enough, Ruby and Buddy began Buddy’s Natural Chickens (BNC) in 1988 – with The Bottle Haus serving as the main business office for both.

As life slowed down, Ruby and Buddy began traveling to the Caribbean, Alaska, and Europe. In 2002 Buddy passed away and life changed. After Buddy’s death Ruby enjoyed her involvement with her grandchildren from watching baseball/basketball/volleyball games, to attending plays, to enjoying band concerts. Cooking meals for her grandchildren gave her great pleasure. Chicken on a bun (Grannie was before her time) and chicken spaghetti and anything to do with chicken were constants on the menu. Outside of supporting her family Ruby enjoyed playing bridge at the Silver Center and was active in the Delphians Study Club, serving as president.

A cradle Methodist, Ruby was baptized and confirmed at First Methodist Church in Gonzales. She was a member of First Methodist Church in Seguin for over 50 years, where she attended the Sharers’ Sunday School class and served on various committees.

Ruby is preceded in death by her loving husband, Alfred Marvin ‘Buddy’ Lindeman, her parents, her brothers, Bill Johnson and Fletcher Johnson, brother-in-law, Al Springs, sisters-in-law, Bobbie Johnson and Jane Johnson, friend, Ron N. Ridge, and daughter-in-law, Linda Lindeman.

Survivors include her children, Lisa Dowdy and husband Tom, David Lindeman, and Susan Bullinger and husband Pat; grandchildren, Collin Dowdy and girlfriend Sarah Connell, Army Specialist Ian Dowdy, Kara Lindeman, Kate Palmer and husband Zach, Kendra Lindeman, Jace Bullinger and fiancé, Mikaela Adams, and Cade Bullinger; sister, Dorothy Springs; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other loving family members and many friends.

The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to Argent Court and especially to the ladies who cared for and loved Ruby – Margarita Gonzalez, Mary Sepeda, Angelita Rojas, Yolanda Long and Max (Parker), Mia Salazar, and Julia Valdez. Their dedication and love were the greatest gift.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 17, 2026, from 3 to 5 p.m. at Tres Hewell Mortuary Chapel.  Funeral service will be held on Monday, May 18, 2026, at 2 p.m. at First Methodist Church in Seguin, with the Reverend Cathe Evins officiating.  Graveside services and interment will follow at 4 p.m. in the Gonzales Masonic Cemetery in Gonzales.

Serving as pallbearers will be Ricky Baca, Kevin Baker, Hal Brodbeck, Rick Johnston, Dale Reiley, and Randal Springs.  Honorary pallbearers will be Norman Burns, Robert (Dennis) Gonzalez, Mark Grant, and Jose Jimenez.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Methodist Church, 710 N. Austin, Seguin, Texas, or charity of one’s choice.
