Voters to head to polls for May 2 Uniform Election

Seguin, TX, USA / Seguin Today

Voters to head to polls for May 2 Uniform Election

(Seguin) — Guadalupe County voters head to the polls this Saturday for the May 2 Uniform Election. The election includes ballots featuring a mix of local races including school board contests, city council races and several major bond proposals. It should be noted that no Guadalupe County position will be on the ballot.

Guadalupe County Elections Administrator Cristian “Cris” Pérez García says polls will be open Saturday at the six Vote Centers across Guadalupe County.

She says these vote center polling locations allows individuals to cast a ballot at any location regardless of where they live in the county.

“For this Saturday, May 2nd, Uniform Election Day, the polls are open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the following locations: Seguin Elections Office, Redemptive Grace Ministries in New Braunfels, Elections Office Annex in Schertz, Selma City Hall, Marion ISD Tonde Room, and Geronimo (VFW Post 8456),” said Perez-Garcia.

Although this flexibility is intended to make voting more convenient, Perez-Garcia still urges residents to check their sample ballot before arriving at the polls.

“Your local cities and schools may have races and measures on the ballot. However, not every voter lives within the boundaries of their city or school district, which is important to verify because your ballot is based on your residential address,” said Perez-Garcia.

She says those wishing to know exactly what they are voting have a couple of easy options in which to check.

“One of the two ways information is available to the public is by, of course, checking our webpage, clicking on the name of the election of their interest, and verifying polling locations and hours there. Once on the website, a voter can also view sample ballots. And the other way to find information is, of course, by calling our elections office,” said Perez-Garcia.

She says with multiple elections on tap for the remainder of the spring, double checking your sample ballot and other voting information is crucial.

“We are currently also conducting early voting for a special runoff election for the City of Schertz, which happens to pause voting over this upcoming weekend and may cause confusion. And we’ll start back up next Monday, May 4th,” said Perez-Garcia.

Voters are also reminded that they are not required to have their voter certificate in hand to vote. She says a government-issued ID is acceptable.

Guadalupe County residents can find sample ballots, polling locations and additional election information on the Guadalupe County Elections Office website. Election Day is Saturday, May 2. Election results will be made available following the race at SeguinToday.com.
