Matilda Anna Boelter, 70, of Kenedy, Texas passed away peacefully on Monday, April 27, 2026.

Matilda was born in Coy City on January 30, 1956, to Oscar W. Boelter and Erna (Knoll) Boelter. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Matilda proudly served as postmaster in Karnes County for numerous years, a position she thoroughly enjoyed. She had a special gift for singing and possessed a beautiful voice and sang at funerals and church services throughout the years. She was also well known for her delicious peanut brittle. For many years, she made and sold her peanut brittle during the holiday season.

Matilda was a social person who loved visiting regularly with her many friends. She also enjoyed participating in various crafts and going on numerous gambling trips. In addition to her work with the post office, she was employed for many years with Alexander Ford in Kenedy and Marathon Oil.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Erna Boelter; and siblings, Oscar Boelter Jr., Gerdine Stockton and Mary Schulz.

Matilda is survived by her son, Shayne (Christie) Hons; grandchildren, Chance Cochran, Tracy Cochran (Ridge Salazar), Darrian Hons, Cody Cochran and Hagen Hons; and siblings, Melvin Boelter, Henry Boelter, Erna Mae Pfeil, Nora Oncken, Doris Goodwin and Delores Springs. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Matilda was a kind and loving person who will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 2, 2026, at the Karnes City Methodist Church with the funeral service starting at 2 o’clock. Rev. Joey Flores III will officiate. Burial will follow at the Karnes City Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be B.K. Stockton, Shannon Boelter, Bobby Jones, Lane Jones, Dusty Culpepper, Travis Culpepper, David Wiatrek and Kyle Wiatrek.
