(San Antonio) — Lifegate Christian track and field athletes had a golden day at the Texas Christian Athletic League state meet in San Antonio this past Friday, collecting multiple individual and relay championships.
The squad’s biggest highlight came in the relays, where the team of Kylie Maples, Sharla Maples, Bailey Smith and Audrey Polcyn swept gold in both the girls 4×100 and 4×200 meter relays. Polcyn added an individual gold in the girls 100-meter dash, while Seth Witschorke claimed the boys 100-meter dash title.
Kylie Maples had a strong showing in the field events, winning gold in both the high jump and long jump. Sharla Maples dominated the throwing events, sweeping gold in the discus and shot put. Jayce Kurz won the boys triple jump, and Bailey Smith — already a relay champion — added a gold in the girls triple jump as well.
The Lifegate girls finished as team runners-up at the state meet.
