(Marion) — Marion and Jourdanton will meet in a battle of the top two teams in District 27-3A tonight on KWED.
The Bulldogs are 8-0 in district play, while the Indians come in at 7-1. Jourdanton is the defending district champion and swept both meetings with Marion a year ago.
Marion head coach Tim Tesch says his team has had this week circled on the calendar.
“When we started the season, every warm-up game we had, every scrimmage we had, every tournament game we had, it was Jourdanton on the mind,” Tesch said. “Once we got to district, of course, we had to focus one game at a time to make sure we got to the spot we’re in now — playing Jourdanton for the district championship this week.”
Tuesday is the first of two matchups between these teams this week to wrap up the district schedule. They meet in Marion this evening, then travel to Jourdanton on Friday. The Bulldogs need just one win to claim the district title. Jourdanton must sweep both games to defend its championship.
First pitch tonight is set for 7 o’clock. We’ll have all the action right here on KWED. Our Bulldog baseball pregame from Marion High School gets underway at 6:45 this evening on AM 1580 and streaming at SeguinToday.com.
