(Geronimo) — Tyler Riske hit a two-run homer and earned the victory on the mound as the Navarro Panthers took down rival Cuero 10-8 on Friday night in Geronimo.
Riske started and went five and one-third innings, allowing three earned runs and striking out 10 in getting the win. He hit a two-run shot to left in the bottom of the fifth in a six-run inning for the Panthers.
Navarro improved to 3-0 in District 28-4A and took over sole possession of first place in the district with the victory. The Panthers and Gobblers will meet again Friday night at Cuero High School. First pitch is set for 7 p.m.
(Geronimo) — The Navarro Lady Panther softball team was run-ruled 22-4 by Cuero on Friday in Geronimo.
The Lady Panthers will look to rebound when they host La Vernia tonight. First pitch is at 7 p.m. at the old Navarro High School.
(Seguin) — The Seguin Lady Matadors stayed perfect in District 27-5A with a 15-0 run-rule victory over San Antonio Lanier at Matador Legends Ballpark on Friday night.
Vida Hernandez drove in four for the Lady Mats and also clubbed a double and an inside-the-park home run in the victory. Hernandez and Marissa Torrence combined in the circle to no-hit the Lady Voks through four innings.
Seguin stayed unbeaten in district, improving to 7-0. The Lady Matadors will play at San Antonio Jefferson on Tuesday. First pitch is at 6 p.m.
(Seguin) — The Seguin Matador baseball team also stayed unbeaten in district with a run-rule win over Lanier at Legends Ballpark on Friday.
The Mats rolled past the Voks 13-1 to improve to 6-0 in district. Mikey Hernandez went 3-for-3 with two doubles and two RBI for Seguin.
The Mats play at Jefferson on Tuesday. First pitch is set for 7 p.m. at Jefferson High School.
(Marion) — The Marion Lady Bulldog softball team run-ruled Poteet in Marion on Friday 14-2 to improve to 2-1 in District 27-3A.
Marion pounded out 10 hits on the night. Camby Dojahn and Alyson Robles each doubled. Brooke Stevens smacked a triple. Dojahn got the win in the circle, going four and one-third innings and striking out three.
The Lady Bulldogs will next host Jourdanton on Tuesday night. We’ll have that game on KWED.
(Marion) — The Marion Bulldog baseball team won their ninth straight with a 13-3 run-rule home win over San Antonio Cole on Friday.
The Bulldogs blew the game open in the bottom of the fourth with seven runs. Kyson McBride doubled in the inning, driving home a pair. Gage Hamilton also doubled home a run to pad the Marion lead.
