The Seguin JV softball team competes against San Antonio Burbank prior to the varsity game at Matador Legends Ballpark on March 17, 2026.

(Seguin) — Erin Johnston hit two home runs, including an inside-the-park homer, as the Seguin Lady Matadors stayed unbeaten in District 27-5A with a 10-2 win over San Antonio Burbank on Tuesday night at Matador Legends Ballpark.

Johnston launched a two-run shot to left in the bottom of the first to put the Lady Mats up 2-0. Brylee Wieding followed with a solo shot to left for back-to-back home runs and a 3-0 Seguin lead. It was Wieding’s team-leading seventh home run of the season.

In the fourth inning, Johnston hit a deep drive to center that caromed off the wall and away from the center fielder. The senior flew around the base paths to make it 9-1. Johnston now has five home runs on the season.

Junior Marissa Torrence went the distance in the circle for the Lady Mats, allowing just three hits and one earned run while striking out six to earn the win. Seguin handed the Lady Bulldogs their first district loss of the season. Burbank is now a game behind the first place Lady Matadors at 4-1 in district play.

Seguin will look to keep their winning ways going when they host San Antonio Highlands on Friday. First pitch is set for 7 p.m. at Legends Ballpark.
