(Seguin) — It’s a battle for first place in District 27-5A tonight as the Seguin Lady Matadors take on the Burbank Lady Bulldogs at Matador Legends Ballpark on KWED.
Both teams are unbeaten through four district games. The Lady Mats are led by senior Brylee Weiding, who leads the team with six home runs and 33 RBI through 23 games this season. The Lady Bulldogs have just four home runs as a team, but they are aggressive on the base paths, having stolen over 150 bases through 16 games.
First-year Seguin head softball coach Terrie Nowlin feels her team is ready for this early showdown with one of the best teams in the district.
“We’ve been here before. We’ve faced competition in our preseason and tournaments. We saw great competition,” Nowlin said. “We just have to put the ball in play. They have to catch it. They have to make a great throw and make a great catch. We just have to get on base.”
First pitch between the Lady Mats and Lady Bulldogs is set for 7 p.m. at Matador Legends Ballpark. We’ll have all the action here on KWED. Our Lady Matador softball pregame gets underway at 6:45 this evening on AM 1580 and streaming at SeguinToday.com.
