(Marion) — Travis Randle was named MVP of District 27-3A to lead Marion boys’ basketball all-district accolades for the 2025-26 season.
Randle, a four-year Marion basketball letterman, led the Bulldogs in scoring, assists and steals per game. The senior averaged 23.5 points per contest in the first two rounds of the playoffs, leading Marion to the regional semifinals.
Banji Ajasin was named the district’s Defensive Player of the Year. A senior, Ajasin was Marion’s leading rebounder, pulling down 10 rebounds per game. He also averaged nearly two blocks per game and was a constant presence in the paint with his 6-foot-6, 335-pound frame.
Earning all-district first-team honors were seniors Nathan Halter, Gavin Moltz and Jaiden Riley. Seniors Jackson Missildine and Cash Rabenaldt were named to the second team, while senior Ian Nevarez earned an all-district honorable mention.
Seven Bulldogs were recognized on the Academic All-District team: Halter, Moltz, Nevarez, Rabenaldt, Randle, Riley and Marcelo Morales.
The Bulldogs were the District 27-3A champions this season. Marion finished 28-8 overall and advanced to the UIL Class 3A Division I Region IV semifinals, where the No. 13 Bulldogs fell to No. 3 Corpus Christi London, 56-45.
Head coach Jon Allen surpassed the 600-win mark this season, winning his 600th career game on February 3 in a 55-42 victory over San Antonio Cole. Allen finished the year with 606 victories.
The Bulldogs were a senior-laden team. Marion will graduate nine seniors this spring.
