Man apprehended after shooting victim 12 times

(McQueeney) — A suspect accused of firing more than a dozen shots at a man in McQueeney has been apprehended.

The Guadalupe County Sheriff’s Office says 21-year-old Camrine Chissell, of McQueeney, was taken into custody without incident at approximately 12:30 p.m. Monday, March 2.

Deputies were initially dispatched around 8:20 p.m. Sunday, March 1 to the 100 block of McQueeney Road in McQueeney following reports of gunfire. When they arrived within minutes, they located a man in his 40s lying on the ground next to a vehicle.

The responding deputy says he observed multiple small-caliber gunshot wounds, including injuries to the victim’s hand, lower left abdomen and left hip and leg area. Witnesses at the scene reported that a male suspect had fired the shots and fled on foot.

Deputies administered first aid until EMS arrived. The victim was transported to Brooke Army Medical Center at Fort Sam Houston for treatment.

Officials say the victim sustained approximately 12 gunshot wounds. After undergoing surgery, he was listed in stable but critical condition and is expected to recover.

Chissell was arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. The initial search on Sunday for the armed and dangerous suspect prompted most residents to receive a Reverse 911 warning and a temporary shelter-in-place advisory. Those have since been lifted.

Officials say no additional details regarding suspects or charges are being released at this time in order to protect the integrity of the case.

Again, investigation into the shooting continues.
