Suspect Arrested in McQueeney Shooting Investigation

(McQueeney) — Guadalupe County sheriff’s deputies have arrested a suspect connected to a weekend shooting along McQueeney Road, according to the Guadalupe County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities say 21-year-old Camrine Chissell, of McQueeney, was taken into custody Monday afternoon without incident. He faces a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

The investigation began around 8:20 p.m. Sunday when deputies responded to a reported shooting in the 100 block of McQueeney Road. Upon arrival, deputies located a man in his 40s lying near a vehicle with multiple gunshot wounds. Deputies rendered first aid until emergency medical personnel arrived.

The victim was transported to Brooke Army Medical Center, where medical staff determined he had sustained approximately 12 gunshot wounds. Officials say the victim underwent surgery and is listed in stable but critical condition, with a high likelihood of survival.

Investigators with the sheriff’s office Criminal Investigations Bureau later identified Chissell as the alleged shooter and obtained an arrest warrant. Authorities say there is no ongoing threat to public safety, and a previously issued shelter-in-place advisory has been lifted.

The investigation remains active, and no additional details are being released at this time.
