Veterans Outreach Center to host free resource fair

Seguin, TX, USA / Seguin Today

Veterans Outreach Center to host free resource fair

(Seguin) — Veterans and their families in Seguin will have a one-stop opportunity today to explore services that are available to them.

The Guadalupe County Veterans Outreach Center is inviting veterans to its Resource Roundup.

The event will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the center, located at 205 E. Weinert St.

Nancy Russell, veteran services director, says the event provides access to resources many families may not realize are available in the area.

“This is just an opportunity to get in touch with representatives of organizations that provide even more services – things that we don’t need every week or everyday but they can get in touch with these people and it’s a wide variety of services – it’s financial, activities, education, employment, legal services, medical – we have 14 different organizations being represented,” said Russell.

Russell says beyond providing services, the resource fair is also about creating awareness. She says it’s important that veterans or family members don’t feel alone or uninformed about their options.

“We have so much to offer here and there is still people that don’t know that we are here and I don’t know anyone who does not know a veteran, have a relative or a friend or a friend of a friend and so the more people who can come and see what we have to offer — and then all of the other services that we can put people in touch with that aren’t at our location that are still available to veterans and their dependents and their families,” said Russell.

Among the many booths will be the Lionheart Walking Club, wood working, financial assistance, the PTSD Foundation of America plus job assistance programs.
