Marion cruises to area round while Navarro falls in bi-district

The Marion Bulldogs defeated Hondo 92-47 in the Class 3A Division I bi-district round at Boerne High School on February 23, 2026.

(Boerne) — The Marion Bulldogs dominated from start to finish, rolling to a 92-47 victory over Hondo in the Class 3A Division I bi-district round on Monday night at Boerne High School.

Marion burst out of the gate with a 13-0 run and led 26-6 after the first quarter. Seniors Travis Randle and Banji Ajasin combined for 17 points in the opening frame. Randle stayed hot, adding 11 more in the second quarter to reach 20 by halftime as the Bulldogs built a commanding 46-21 lead. Randle finished the game with 24 points.

“This is his fourth year on varsity, and I expect nothing less of him,” Marion head coach Jon Allen said of Randle after the game. “He’s our leader and he does a great job. He attacks the basket, gets the points we need, plays good defense for us, and does a little bit of everything. He’s a ‘glad he’s on my team’ kind of guy.”

The Bulldogs maintained the pressure in the third quarter, pouring in 30 points to push the margin to 76-32 heading into the fourth. Ajasin scored 10 in the period and finished with 18 for the game. Senior Jackson Missildine added five in the third and ended with 14, while senior Jaiden Riley contributed four during the quarter and also finished with 14.

The win extends Marion’s current winning streak to 10 games and improves their record to 27-7. The Bulldogs advance to the area round, where they will face the winner of the Columbus vs. Karnes City bi-district matchup.

(Seguin) — At the new Navarro High School, the Navarro Panthers saw their season come to an end in the Class 4A Division II bi-district round with a 58-24 loss to Devine.

Weston Shields led the Panthers with 10 points. Navarro finished fourth in District 28-4A and reached the playoffs after going winless in district play just two seasons ago. The Panthers concluded the year with 17 overall victories under second-year head coach Jarrett Tyler.
