(Seguin) – Get ready for a night of music, laughter and prizes. The Seguin Sunrise Lions Club is inviting the community to its SINGO fundraiser this Saturday at 4 p.m. at the Silver Center.
Singo — short for “singing bingo” — combines music and traditional bingo into one competitive game. Instead of listening for numbers, players hear clips of popular songs and mark the matching titles on their game cards.
Lion Omar Maldonado, who is helping coordinate the event, says participants will get the chance to play five themed rounds spelling out L-I-O-N-S.
“The concept is simple. It is basically Bingo. You have a card and you’ll just need to cross out five in a row usually. But this time instead of numbers, it’s songs. So, I will play a snippet of a song usually it’s around 30 seconds and if you recognize the song on your board, then you’ll cross it out. If for some reason, you don’t know the name of the song, I’ll tell you the name of the artist and then if you get five in a row, you will win that round and you will get a prize,” said Maldonado.
Prizes include gift cards, specialty items plus a large screen TV.
Maldonado says events like this not only provide entertainment but also support the Lions Club’s ongoing service projects in the community.
“Obviously all the money goes to our service projects, our community outreach. So, we are doing this for a good cause helping out the Lions Club and at the same time, you get to have fun. Don’t be afraid to sing. Don’t be afraid to dance. Don’t be afraid to have fun. You get to win prizes and help out the community but do not forget, you are also there to have a good time. Bring the family. Bring the kids. Again, you will have a good time,” said Maldonado.
Cost is $20 per player and includes five rounds of SINGO.
