(Seguin) — The Guadalupe County Road & Bridge Department has done its part to help ensure local residents are well fed. The department continued its annual food drive tradition by collecting more than a ton of food.
Department workers recently collected and delivered 2,162 pounds of food to the Christian Cupboard, which helps feed families in Seguin and throughout Guadalupe County.
Organizers say the annual food donation drive is a long-standing tradition among participating departments and brings employees together each year with a shared goal of giving back to the community.
“This annual effort reflects the generosity and teamwork of our employees,” said Doug Burnside, Road & Bridge Administrator. “The food collected will help area families during the holidays, especially when kids are home. We often hear about the need for donations to the Christian Cupboard, and we wanted to help in any way possible during this giving season.”
The Road & Bridge Department maintains 720 miles of county roads. Its daily work includes constructing new roads, repairing and maintaining existing roads and bridges, mowing and cutting brush, inspecting new subdivisions, and handling a wide range of other responsibilities to help ensure safe transportation and compliance.
