(Seguin) — Major accidents involving 18-wheelers are becoming a common occurrence along Interstate 10 in Seguin. The heavily traveled highway is currently under construction in the area. On Saturday, yet another accident occurred, leading to the highway being closed for several hours.

According to the Seguin Police Department, the accident occurred early Saturday morning on I-10 west near North Austin Street. As a result, both the westbound and eastbound lanes were closed while crews worked to clear the scene. Drivers were urged to use caution in the area, and traffic came to a standstill on the highway.

Police say no injuries were reported, but some of that traffic did spill into town as drivers looked to avoid the highway closure.

In recent months, there have been several serious crashes in that area. The high rate of speed, combined with ongoing construction work, makes it especially important for drivers to exercise patience and use caution while traveling along the interstate.
