Virginia Jeanne Cowsert, age 93 of Seguin, passed away on December 17, 2025.  Virginia was born on July 13, 1932, in San Antonio, Texas to Alma M. (Sasse) and James M. Young, Sr.

Virginia was an active member of First Baptist Church and volunteered for many years at the Christian Cupboard in Seguin.

Virginia is preceded in death by her husband Edward Cowsert, son, Robert Carnes, her parents, her sister, Bernice Kirkpatrick, and her brother, James Young.

Survivors include her sons, Richard Carnes and wife Peggy, and Terry Carnes and wife Mary; grandchildren, Christina Kimberling and husband Lee, J. R. Carnes and wife Jilian, Terry Carnes, Jr., Michael Carnes and wife Amanda, Andrew Carnes and wife Rachel, and James Carnes; eleven great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews, other loving family members and friends.

A memorial service celebrating Virginia’s life will be held on Monday, January 5, 2026, at 10 a.m. at Tres Hewell Mortuary Chapel with the Reverend Jeremy Roy officiating.

Private interment will follow later in Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
