(Seguin) — A handful of local businesses, schools, and community groups earned major bragging rights this holiday season after being named winners in this year’s Holiday Stroll Parade and Christmas Tree Decorating Contest.
More than 100 entries lit up downtown Seguin Thursday night as the community bundled up and braved the cold for this year’s event.
Earning First Place in the parade was the Seguin Utilities Department
The department claimed top honors with a lively Macy’s Day–style mini-performance staged directly in front of the grandstand.
Second Place went to Masters Electrical Services.
The company invited folks all aboard the Masters Electrical Services Express — Seguin’s own Polar Express of Power. Their “Masters Express” message invited spectators to “grab a golden ticket” and enjoy a magical ride into the holiday season.
Finally, Third Place went to Green Valley Special Utility District
Green Valley SUD rolled down Austin Street with a massive 75-foot float inspired by Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas. The float showcased three scenes from the film and featured employees dressed as iconic characters.
The city also named the winners of this year’s Christmas Tree Decorating Contest.
First Place went to “Christmas with the Phlock” by Seguin Parrot Head Club
Second Place went to “Frosty Belle’s Moo-rry Christmas” by Career Academy of Training LLC at Marion High School
And Third Place was presented to “Mental Health” by NAMI.
This year’s decorated Christmas trees remain on display throughout Central Park.
