Community encouraged to ensure plates for homebound, elderly
(Seguin) — Organizers of this year’s OLG thanksgiving meal do not want to overlook anyone this Wednesday as they prepare to serve their annual meal to Seguin’s home bound and elderly.
Today is the final day for residents to request home delivery for this year’s meal being prepared by 40 confirmation students.
The 27th annual meal will be served this Wednesday, Nov. 26.
Gloria Reyna OLG director of religious education says anyone needing a delivered plate must call the parish office by the end of today.
The meal will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday at the OLG Parish Center.
Reyna says she’s urging the community to help ensure that no homebound resident misses today’s delivery deadline. Reyna said it’s important for neighbors, church members, and family to share the information with anyone who may not see announcements on their own.
Those requesting a delivered plate must contact the church office at least by 7 p.m. today at (830) 379-4338.
For the rest of the community who can stop by – they are reminded that the free event is drive-thru or pickup. No dine in will be available. This year, the limit will be four plates per car or family.
KWED on Wednesday will share more on this holiday tradition and how it plays a significant role for not only residents who need the meal but those youth who are shaped by their action of giving and serving others.
