(Seguin) — The Seguin Lady Matadors won two games and had three players earn all-tournament team selections at the Seguin girls basketball tournament.

The Lady Matadors secured victories over Elgin on Thursday and San Diego on Friday in the eight-team tournament. Jaz Gil scored 12 points in Seguin’s 40-34 win over Elgin. Faith Franklin added 11 and Phaedra Douglas chipped in with 10. In a 51-24 rout of San Diego, Franklin led all scorers with 19 points. Gil poured in 12 and Douglas contributed 11.

The trio of Douglas, Franklin and Gil were named to the all-tournament team. Smithson Valley won the tournament championship, defeating Victoria West 62-49 in Saturday’s title game. The Lady Rangers finished the tournament with a perfect 5-0 record.

The Seguin Lady Matadors will return to action Tuesday afternoon for their final game before the Thanksgiving holiday. Seguin will travel to face Victoria West. The Lady Mats will be looking for revenge after falling 54-32 to the Lady Warriors on Friday at the Seguin tournament.

(San Antonio) — The Navarro Runnin’ Lady Panthers won one game at the San Antonio Cole tournament, which concluded Saturday.

Navarro defeated San Antonio Stevens 66-51 on Thursday. The Lady Panthers will play two road games this week before a Thanksgiving break. Navarro will face San Antonio Warren on Monday afternoon, then visit Devine on Tuesday for an afternoon matchup with the Arabians.
