(Seguin) — For many families, the holidays bring both joy and hardship and Seguin Radio KWED Radio hopes to again ease that burden with this year’s Christmas Angel Contest. The contest is now accepting nominations for a deserving family to receive $500 cash.
Families have until 5 p.m. Friday, Dec. 12, to submit a letter explaining why they or someone they know could use $500 cash this Christmas. The contest is designed to highlight the true spirit of the season by encouraging residents to lift up neighbors who may be struggling or who simply deserve a helping hand.
Anyone in Guadalupe County is invited to participate by writing a letter describing a family’s need or why their nominee would benefit from the cash gift. The contest began several years ago and has since become a holiday reminder of the importance of kindness.
As part of the tradition, the winning letter will be read live on the air just days before Christmas. The letter along with photos of the selected family or individual will also be featured in a special holiday edition of the Seguin Daily News.
To be considered, entries must include the name, address, and phone number of the person submitting the nomination. Letters missing contact information will not be eligible. An anonymous panel of judges, independent from KWED Radio and the Seguin Daily News, will review the entries and select this year’s Christmas Angel winner.
Again, all letters must be submitted by 5 p.m., Dec. 12, here at the KWED studios, located at 609 E. Court St. Up until the deadline, entries can also be dropped off anytime using the drop slot located on the front door.
