(Cibolo) — A routine traffic stop in a Walmart parking lot has led to the arrest of a wanted fugitive hiding in the trunk of a car. Officials say on Nov. 14, 2025, a Guadalupe County Sheriff’s Deputy pulled over a vehicle in the parking lot of the Walmart on Cibolo Valley Drive. During the stop, they say the deputy developed suspicion of criminal activity and received consent from the driver to conduct a search. While checking the vehicle, the deputy discovered a man attempting to conceal himself inside the trunk.
The individual was identified as Kevin Guzman of McQueeney, who authorities say was actively wanted in two separate jurisdictions. According to the sheriff’s office, Guzman had an outstanding warrant out of Harris County for Indecency with a Child by Exposure and another out of Denton County for Failure to Comply with Sex Offender Registration Requirements.
Deputies also reported that Guzman pleaded with the arresting officer not to notify U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, acknowledging that he was in the country illegally.
Guadalupe County Sheriff Joshua Ray praised the deputy’s actions, saying the arrest reflects the department’s ongoing commitment to protecting the community.
“This is another great example of exemplary police work by our deputies. We will continue utilizing every resource available to rid our county of sexual predators. If you choose to hurt children, you will not hide in Guadalupe County,” said Ray.
Guzman was taken into custody and booked into the Guadalupe County Adult Detention Center, where he is being held without bail.
