TxDOT closure slated for Saturday Patience urged at County Clean-Up Event

(Seguin) — Guadalupe County officials say Saturday’s Bulk Clean-Up event will move forward as planned but drivers should expect potential delays due to a major TxDOT highway closure taking place this same weekend.

Originally scheduled for last month but postponed because of rain, the clean-up will take place from 7:30 to 11:30 a.m. this Saturday at the Road & Bridge Department just south of the Guadalupe County Jail.

Vehicles are being asked to enter from North Austin Street onto North Guadalupe Street, next to Tellus Equipment Solutions, and follow the marked route to the disposal area.

However, the Texas Department of Transportation will fully close SH 123 at I-10 from 9 p.m. Friday, Nov. 14, to 5 a.m. Monday, Nov. 17, for bridge work. The closure will also affect the right lanes of both eastbound and westbound I-10 over SH 123.

“We do anticipate this slowing down the traffic, confusing people, or possibly deterring people from participating,” said Guadalupe County Public Information Officer Carmen Davila. “We ask people to be patient and knowledgeable of the heavy use of the access road during the TxDOT closure.”

Despite the added traffic concerns, county leaders say they remain committed to providing residents with the free opportunity to properly dispose of household items and help keep the community clean.
