Marion MVP student-athletes Love and Schoenvogel sign college letters of intent

Marion High School student-athletes Madi Love and Huck Schoenvogel sign their college letters of intent at the high school on November 12, 2025.

(Marion) — A pair of Marion High School MVP student-athletes announced their college intentions on Wednesday at the high school.

Bulldog baseball player Huck Schoenvogel and Lady Bulldog volleyball player Madi Love signed their names on the dotted line at a letter of intent signing at the high school. Both seniors will continue their academic and athletic careers at East Texas schools.

Love, who was recently named the MVP of District 27-3A following the Marion volleyball team’s undefeated run through the district this past season, will attend LeTourneau University in Longview. The senior middle blocker capped off her volleyball career with the MVP after making the all-district first team in 2024 and the second team in 2023.

Love thanked her coaches and family at the signing. She said she feels LeTourneau is the right choice for the next step in her volleyball career.

“I just love the culture surrounding the campus,” Love said of LeTourneau University. “I really love what they bring to the sport of volleyball and I’m looking forward to next year.”

Love plans to study biomedical sciences at LeTourneau. She intends to go to graduate school with a goal of becoming a pharmacist.

Schoenvogel earned the District 27-3A Co-MVP in his junior year last season, taking home an MVP award for the second straight year for the Marion baseball program. He signed with Angelina College in Lufkin on Wednesday.

Schoenvogel said he is eager to play at the next level.

“I’m excited. I’m really happy,” Schoenvogel said. “I couldn’t be here without my teammates obviously, and my friends and my parents. I’m excited to see how it’s gonna go and I can’t wait.”

Last season, Schoenvogel threw a no-hitter on opening day and led Marion in batting, hits and runs. He was tied for the team lead in RBIs while leading the Bulldogs with a .536 average. He said he’s undecided on a college major right now and he hopes to play baseball as long as he can even after college.
