Cleanup event scheduled for this Saturday
(Seguin) — Guadalupe County residents are getting another chance to clear out unwanted clutter this weekend during the county’s Bulk Clean-up Event. The free service is scheduled for Saturday, October 25, from 7:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the Road & Bridge Department located just south of the Guadalupe County Jail in Seguin.
The event provides residents with a free and convenient way to properly dispose of large or difficult-to-manage household items — a service county officials say helps keep neighborhoods cleaner and safer.
To ensure a smooth flow of traffic, county officials say vehicles must enter the site from North Austin Street. They will then turn into North Guadalupe Street, about a half mile north of IH-10 near Tellus Equipment Solutions. County staff will be on hand to direct drivers through the unloading area at the Road & Bridge Central Yard before exiting all vehicles onto the IH-10 Frontage Road.
To participate, county residents are asked to bring a photo ID or utility bill showing a Guadalupe County address. Organizers also recommend separating tires in advance from other materials in vehicles or trailers to help speed up unloading.
Only trailers up to 12 feet in length will be accepted. Dump or commercial trailers will not be permitted.
Items accepted include but not limited to furniture, household appliances, scrap metal, dry paint, ceramic toilets in a cardboard box and up to 4 tires less than 19.5” without rims.
While most things will be allowed, there are things that will not be collected. Among those items are hazardous waste, brush, dead livestock, junk vehicles, boats, fencing, sheds, and hazardous materials like anti-freeze, oil, liquid paints and items with gasoline.
A detailed list of acceptable and prohibited items can be found on the county’s website at www.guadalupetx.gov/page/roads.trash_disposal.
