Juan Seguin Statue chosen, mug to debut at Pecan Fest

(Seguin) — One of Seguin’s most beloved holiday traditions is about to kick off — and it all starts with a mug.

Each fall, Pecan Fest signals the start of Sip ‘n Stroll season with the unveiling of the annual collectible mug. This year’s 2025 design pays tribute to one of the city’s most iconic landmarks — The Juan Seguin Statue — through the colorful artwork of local artist Diana Bravo Gonzalez.

Visitors to Pecan Fest will have a chance to meet Gonzalez in person and even have their mug signed. Following the festival, the mugs will be available for purchase beginning Tuesday, Oct. 28, at Gift & Gourmet, Keeper’s Interiors, and other downtown locations while supplies last.

Now in its 15th year, the Sip ‘n Stroll mug has become a cherished keepsake for locals and visitors alike.

“We strongly encourage people to purchase their mugs early, as these mugs have become collectible items for locals and visitors,” said Dana Hall, president of the Downtown Business Alliance. “The proceeds from the mug sales will benefit the alliance and our efforts to market and beautify downtown Seguin.”

Hall says this year’s proceeds are going toward a special new addition to the holiday season.

“This year, we are planning a new attraction for the holidays – a new 14-foot lighted Christmas Tree and Star to help brighten up the park and provide a fabulous photo backdrop,” said Hall. “Mug sales and sponsorships will help us achieve that goal.”

The Downtown Business Alliance of Seguin, a volunteer-led organization, works year-round to promote and protect the city’s historic downtown through events like Margarita Madness and Cocoa Sip ‘n Stroll.

The Sip ‘n Stroll event is part of Seguin’s larger Holiday Stroll weekend, which includes the Lighted Christmas Parade on Dec. 4, the Sip ‘n Stroll on Dec. 5, and the North Pole Stroll and Jingle Bell Fun Run on Dec. 6. The three-day celebration draws thousands of visitors downtown to experience Seguin’s holiday charm.
