(New Braunfels) — Back-to-back nights of high school football on KWED kick off tonight with the Marion Bulldogs.
Marion is in New Braunfels to take on the Long Creek Dragons. Last week, the Dragons fell 49-19 to Wagner while the Bulldogs beat Stockdale 32-14 in the debut of new head coach Joel Call.
Marion senior quarterback Kade Pape was efficient last week going 14 of 18 for 189 yards and two touchdowns. The Bulldog signal caller also ran for 71 yards and a score. Marion senior running back Tanner Otis had 193 yards rushing including a 71-yard TD.
On defense, Bulldog safety Emerson Blevins finished with double digit tackles. The junior racked up 11 tackles including one for a loss.
Call says Blevins is a leader for the defense from the secondary.
“Emerson did awesome,” Call said. “He kind of controls our back end. He’s our quarterback of that secondary. He’s a good communicator and he’s also a smart kid. So, it helps having him back there.”
Tonight’s game between Marion and Long Creek on KWED takes place at Unicorn Stadium in New Braunfels.
(Seguin) — Tomorrow night, we’ll be at Matador Stadium for the home opener for the Seguin Matadors.
