Joyce Goodwin Berry, age 79 of Seguin, passed away on August 1, 2025. Joyce was born on April 18, 1946 in York Run, Pennsylvania to Lulu Beryl (Breakiron) and Earl Wilbur Goodwin.
Joyce spent much of her career as an educator, teaching college level English and history and special education within the public-school system. She was a longtime member of the First Methodist Church. Joyce enjoyed volunteering at the Texas Theatre, Seguin Public Library and the Christian Cupboard alongside her husband, Marvin, for many years.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 48 years, Marvin Berry, Jr., her parents, her brothers, William Goodwin and wife Joyce and Gerald Goodwin and wife Sarah, sisters-in-law, Lowana Jones and husband Harry and Mary Goodwin, and brother-in-law, Tom Yahner.
She is survived by children, Leandra Berry and spouse Kevin Sheffield, and Jarrett Berry and spouse Reene Berry; step-son, John Berry; grandchildren, Kyler Berry, Quinn Sheffield, Sawyer Sheffield; sister, Kathy Yahner; brother, Leonard Dale Goodwin; brother-in-law, David Berry; numerous nieces and nephews, many other loving family members and friends.
Visitation will begin on Friday, August 8, 2025 at 9 a.m. at First Methodist Church followed by funeral service at 10 a.m. with the Reverend Cathe Evins officiating. A reception will follow in Hierholzer Hall.
Private interment will follow at a later date in Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
