New Seguin ISD Superintendent sharing message with community

(Seguin) — Seguin ISD’s new superintendent provided his first official district update during Tuesday’s meeting of the Seguin ISD Board of Trustees. Although he’s only been in the district a few days, Superintendent Dr. Jack Lee has wasted no time in getting things in order. Plus, he’s recognizing those who are working to get the new year started.

“Administration teams are working very diligently to get everything ready to go. I also want to thank and give a lot of credit to our maintenance crews, our custodians, our technology teams that are all working very hard to get us prepared for the start of the school year. One department that sometimes doesn’t get the credit that they absolutely deserve this time of the year is our human resources department. Mr. (Jeremy) Nueman and his entire team – they have been working very, very diligently to get all of our new hires set and ready to go. They’ve been hosting new teachers. They will host New Teacher Academy coming up. They’ve been hosting new employee hire processes and orientation for the past couple of weeks. I was able to attend my first one on Monday. Nothing is quite as exciting as welcoming people to new

employee orientation when it is also my new employee orientation. So, it worked out very, very well — lots of positivity in the room. A whole lot of positivity in the room. And I think that’s going to be something that’s going to be kind of a theme as we go throughout this upcoming school year,” said Dr. Lee.

Dr. Lee says he’s also been busy welcoming the many teachers who are slowly making their way back into their classrooms.

“All of our teachers are already starting to return to classrooms and are getting ready for the school year,” said Dr. Lee. “I look forward to seeing them at our upcoming convocation, which we will celebrate on August 7th and will celebrate our theme – ‘We are Matador Nation.’”

Dr. Lee’s superintendent update this week also included a message for Seguin ISD families.

Of course, for families, if you have not registered your child, now is the time. We want them here at Seguin ISD. We want them here ready to learn and excited to be here for the very first day of school. Online registration is open via the frontline parent portal, on our website. So, if you have any questions, feel free to call your child’s home campus and they’ll get you squared away with some assistance,” said Dr. Lee.

The new superintendent also reminded families about the wrap up of the district’s Summer Meal Program at the various community and campus sites. He also encouraged them to mark their calendars for this year’s Back to School Family Bash scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 7 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. in the SHS cafeteria. The event will include free hot dogs, games and resource booths.
