(Washington) – The life and legacy of longtime Seguin physician Dr. James C. Lee were recently recognized on the national stage. U.S. Congresswoman Monica De La Cruz (TX-15) honored Dr. Lee during a speech on the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington, D.C.
De La Cruz highlighted Dr. Lee’s decades of service to the Seguin community, both in health care and in civic life.
“I rise today to recognize Dr. James C. Lee of Seguin for his lifetime of service and dedication to the well-being of his fellow Texans,” said De La Cruz.
Dr. Lee practiced medicine locally for nearly 30 years. Dr. Lee also played a key role in shaping the region’s healthcare landscape. He was a founding member of the Guadalupe Regional Medical Foundation and served as treasurer and finance chair. He also served as Chairman of the medical center’s governing board and was an advocate for mental health and disability services through his work on the MHMR board.
“Beloved by both patients and staff, Dr. Lee’s presence will dearly be missed, but his work to help community members access their health care will live on,” said De La Cruz.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Lee remained deeply involved in the Seguin community. De La Cruz’s office says he was a devout Catholic and served as president of the Seguin Area Chamber of Commerce. He was also a 50-year member of the Knights of Columbus and a 30-year member of the Rotary Club of Seguin.
“Dr. Lee’s legacy is remembered by his wife, Janice, his four daughters, Crystal, Cynthia, Catherine, Carol, and 10 grandchildren,” said De La Cruz.
Dr. Lee’s recognition in Congress places his name into the official Congressional Record, marking a national acknowledgment of the work he did here in Seguin.
