Those impacted by flooding encouraged to report damage
(Seguin) — Guadalupe County Judge Kyle Kutscher has officially signed and submitted a Local Disaster Declaration.
The declaration comes after days of intense rainfall that overwhelmed drainage systems and triggered widespread flooding across Seguin and surrounding communities. Officials say roads buckled under rushing water, homes and businesses were inundated, and emergency crews conducted multiple high-water rescues as the weather event rapidly unfolded all day Saturday.
Judge Kutscher says this is a critical first step toward unlocking potential state and federal assistance for recovery efforts.
Guadalupe County Emergency Management officials say residents are urged to report damage now.
They say one of the most immediate ways the public can help accelerate recovery is by self-reporting flood damage through the Texas Division of Emergency Management’s Individual State of Texas Assessment Tool (iSTAT). They say these damage reports are vital for showing the scale of destruction and determining eligibility for government assistance, including grants, cleanup support, and low-interest loans.
To report damages, residents and business owners are asked to visit the Guadalupe County website www.guadalupetx.gov and click on the iSTAT banner prominently displayed on the homepage.
County officials say whether your home had a few inches of water or significant structural loss, it’s important that they collect every single report.
The declaration ensures that as damage assessments continue in the days and weeks ahead, Guadalupe County can access vital recovery tools from emergency resources and infrastructure grants to possible FEMA aid for individuals.
This flooding is part of a larger, ongoing severe weather system that began on July 2, 2025. The county says it will continue to provide updates as the situation develops and additional information becomes available.
