(Seguin) — Seguin High School’s Ian Moreno has collected a college football offer close to home.
Moreno, who will be a senior this fall, has received an offer to play football at Texas Lutheran University. The Matador running back made the announcement on social media on Monday.
Moreno burst onto the scene last year after moving over from the defensive secondary to the offensive side of the ball due to injuries at the running back position. Pressed into action in the third game of the season last year, Moreno rushed for 296 yards on 42 carries in Seguin’s 41-37 come-from-behind victory over Brazoswood. Moreno finished his junior season with 1273 yards on 233 carries and eight rushing touchdowns.
Texas Lutheran is led by head coach Neal LaHue, who is entering his fourth year at the helm of the Bulldog program. LaHue earned the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Coach of the Year in 2024 after leading TLU to a 9-1 overall mark (7-1 in conference) and a regular season SCAC co-championship. Texas Lutheran will open the 2025 season on Thursday, September 4th against rival Trinity at Bulldog Stadium in Seguin.
The Seguin Matadors start their 2025 season on Friday, August 29th at Alamo Heights.
