SHS welcomes new campus principal

(Seguin) — Seguin High School is officially welcoming a new school principal to its Matador Family.

The Seguin ISD Board of Trustees has approved the appointment of Alberto “Albert” Muñoz as the new principal for the flagship campus.

With more than 20 years of experience in education, district officials say Muñoz brings a strong background as a teacher, coach, and administrator.

Emily Allen, Seguin ISD communications director, says Munoz most recently served as the associate principal at John Jay High School in San Antonio, where he was instrumental in supporting student achievement and fostering a positive campus culture.

“He is coming to Seguin from Northside ISD in San Antonio so not too far and we are very excited to have him on board. He has more than 20 years of experience and that includes time as an administrator at several high schools in the Northside District as well as time at a school in Dilley. He’s also been a teacher and has coached several sports, so he really does bring a wealth of experience to our district,” said Allen

Allen says Muñoz’s extensive experience and commitment to student success can be attributed to his leadership at area high schools.

“In terms of Northside, he has previously worked at Stevens, O’Connor and John Jay and those are all high schools,” said Allen.

His position was approved during Tuesday night’s school board meeting. District officials say although they have not announced a start date, they do hope to welcome him on campus as soon as possible.
